Jiaxi Qiu and Lu Hui Qiu have been arrested for practicing medicine without licenses in Chinatown, NY. They were charged with examining and treating patients by injecting them with unknown substances as well as giving them a variety of unidentified pills. The defendants were arraigned in NY State Supreme Court and charged with Unauthorized Practice of a profession (Medicine), a class “” felony. If convicted, they could face up to four years in jail.
Says Attorney General Schneidermann, ” Practicing medicine without a license is a very serious crime in New York State, and we will seek accountability from anyone who preys on vulnerable communities to make a quick buck. These fake doctors lured unsuspecting patients into their offices and put their own greed before the health and safety of their victims. now they will be brought to justice for their dangerous crimes.”
The defendants’ arrests are the result of a joint investigation of the Office of the NY Attorney General and the NY State Department of Education.
