May, 2011, Oyster Bay, NY . . . On Wednesday, June 8th, 2-8PM, the Matinecock Lodge will host and Interchange Business Organization (IBO) will sponsor a much-needed blood drive on behalf of Long Island Blood Services. The blood drive will take place at the Matinecock Lodge, #806, 14 West Main Street, Oyster Bay, NY, in the Collation Room.
Says Richard Noll, ESQ., Matinecock Lodge and IBO member, “There always is a critical need for blood donations – it benefits everyone in the community. That is why the Lodge and IBO decided to combine our resources for this important cause.”
“We want to encourage all those in the Long Island community to donate,” says Tom Gibson, president, IBO. “Blood is the gift of life that won’t cost anyone a dime.”
If you are thinking of donating blood, Long Island Blood Services recommends, that your minimum weight be 110 lbs; that you be between the ages of 16 (16-year olds need parental permission) and 75 (those over 75, need a doctor’s note) years old; that you eat well and drink fluids (before and after); and that you have not had any tattoos in the past 12 months.
